Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, a two-gallon ovoid jar with cobalt cherries decoration, paired with a one-gallon semi-ovoid jug, decorated with horizontal tulip motif. Jar with restoration to much of decoration, a short line in end of one handle, some fry to cobalt on one handle, a short line from rim on reverse, an X-shaped hairline on underside, two minor nicks to interior of rim, and some staining. Jug in very nice condition with a shallow 5/8" flake to interior of spout and the following minor flaws: a tiny nick to exterior of spout, two minor in-the-firing chips to top of handle, and a tiny chip and minuscule nick to lower handle terminal.
