Two Pieces of Baltimore, MD Stoneware with Cobalt Decoration, 19th century, a three-gallon ovoid jar with drooping floral motif on the front and reverse, circa 1825; paired with a swag-decorated spittoon, circa 1850. Jar is out-of-round with tight, short lines to body, a thin 1 1/2" crack from rim, a shallow 7/8" chip to exterior of rim, and an in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder, including a surface chip. Spittoon with brown in-the-firing contact mark to rim, a few base chips, and a 2 1/4" flake to underside. H (of jar) 12 1/2" ; Dimensions (of spittoon): 3 5/8" x 8".
