Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG . PA," circa 1865, both of cylindrical, handled form, a one-gallon jar with large brushed tulip and a two-gallon jar with unusual slip-trailed branch design. One-gallon jar with a few short cracks from rim, chips to inner rim for lid, some staining, and hairlines to underside, continuing a short distance onto base. One handle with a short crack, two small chips, and some wear. Two-gallon jar with large area of restoration to reverse and some unrestored exfoliation to left of decoration and underside. H (of one-gallon jar) 9 3/4".
