Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "BRADY & RYAN / ELLENVILLE. N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Two in-the-firing surface lines on interior of rim, measuring 2 1/2" and 2 1/4", not visible on exterior. Small surface chips to front. A 4 1/2" inverted Y-shaped line to front. Two chips and two horizontal cracks to left handle. A 5/8" chip to right handle. A few small rim chips on front. A 2 1/2" glazed-over surface line at base on front, not visible on interior. Staining to surface. H 10 1/2".
