Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Impressed Eagle Motifs, attributed to Gardiner Stoneware Manufactory, Gardiner, ME, circa 1876-1900, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with three impressed and cobalt-highlighted designs of flying eagles holding flags in their talons. Hand-incised details to eagles. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Faint traces of old orange paint to incised decoration. A small amount of reddish paint to base on front. Restoration to right handle. A minor chip to interior of rim. Two minor in-the-firing iron pings to base. H 10 1/4".
