Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Heart-Shaped Foliate Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD / POTTERY CO.," George Saterlee, Fort Edward, NY, circa 1859, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a boldly slip-trailed design of leaves forming a stylized heart, accented with dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Light staining to surface. Minor chipping to interior of spout. A shallow, 1/2" in-the-firing ping to side of spout. Two small in-the-firing iron pings to surface. Minor surface wear. H 14 3/4".
