Rare Stoneware Mug, Central PA origin, circa 1865-1880, barrel-form mug with tooled accents to shoulder and base, decorated with a brushed flower blossom flanked by four diagonal foliate devices, a motif related to the work of Cowden & Wilcox of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection. A 1 5/8" chip to interior of rim, a small portion of which is visible on exterior. This damage includes a 1 3/4" hairline descending from the chip. Minor bubbling to cobalt. H 4".
