Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Fish Decoration, attributed to Jonathan Fenton, Boston, MA, late 18th century, highly-ovoid jug with tooling to shoulder and spout, decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted design of a fish. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent, early-style form with superb color. Tight cracks throughout. Restoration to top of spout. A small in-the-firing contact mark to handle. Two minor base chips, one of which is glazed over. H 15 1/2".
