Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / NEW-YORK," Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1820, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a brushed foliate motif below the maker's mark and highlights to handle terminals. Incised inverted V-shaped marking at shoulder of unknown meaning. A large network of cracks to reverse, extending onto side. Minor base chips. Two hairlines to handle. A hairline to top edge of spout. H 15 1/2".
