Two Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, one with freehand vining and other freehand decoration, stenciled "J.L. ABELL & CO. / 188 & 190 / FIRST AVE. / PITTSBURGH." the other with freehand stripe decoration, stenciled "HYMAN BROWARSKY. / DEALER IN / GOLDEN SQUARE / RYE WHISKIES. / NO. 320 FIFTH AVENUE, / PITTSBURGH. PENNA." Abell jug with large spider cracks, two small spout chips on reverse, and a salt drip to shoulder. Browarsky jug with a 1 3/4" glazed-over chip to side of handle, a several-inch-long tight horizontal crack extending through stenciling, and some very minor crazing to side of jug. H (of Abell jug) 14 3/4".
