Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with dipped iron-oxide slip at the top and base. A tight spider crack to side/reverse. An in-the-firing iron ping to top edge of spout on front. Blackish residue to front of spout near top. A tiny spout chip on reverse. Various in-the-firing contact marks to surface. A 1 1/4" chip to underside of jug at edge. A smaller chip and tiny nick to underside at edge. An in-the-firing iron ping to front. A tiny nick to side of handle. H 14".
