Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and wide spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "J.A. RENSHAW / & CO. / FAMILY GROCER / NO. 269 / LIBERTY ST / PITTS." Stenciled rose motifs to the left and right and stenciled "2" below. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. Two spout chips, measuring 1 1/4" and 1/2". In-the-firing contact marks to surface. H 14 1/2".
