One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a flowering plant bearing three blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: Michael Wissler Collection. Good condition with the following minor flaws. A faint 2 3/4" line to underside, not visible on interior. A minor 2 1/2" surface line to reverse, not visible on interior. A faint 2 1/2" line at base on front. A very faint 2 1/2" Y-shaped surface line under one handle. Some fry to far right side of decoration and other, very minor wear to decoration. H 9 1/2".
