Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy plant, featuring a well-detailed blossom, three buds, and striped leaves. Slip-trailed cobalt "3." to shoulder. Side and reverse of jar with large chips and flakes to base area. A 1 1/4" chip to side of rim, beside a small chip. Wear to inner rim for lid. Staining to surface. H 13 5/8".
