Two Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875-1880, both of cylindrical form featuring stenciled and freehand decoration, one stenciled "T.F. REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," the other stenciled "JAS HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO. / PA." Provenance: From a fifty-year collection. Reppert jar with some fry to cobalt, minor surface wear, some staining, and traces of blue paint to base on reverse. Hamilton jar with a 2 1/2" loss to rim, some fry to cobalt, and a large spot of staining to right of stenciling.
