Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1820-1840, a three-gallon highly-ovoid jug with brushed floral motif, impressed "CLARK & FOX / ATHENS. N Y;" paired with a two-gallon ovoid jug with cobalt floral motif and stripe-decorated handle, including unusual manganese flecking to the cobalt, attributed to the Bissett Family, Old Bridge, NJ. Athens jugs in excellent, essentially as-made condition, missing some of design. Other jug with three base chips, an in-the-firing surface chip to right of decoration, an in-the-firing flake to spout, and a short line at base on reverse.
