Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY, / N.Y. / POTTERY.," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a well-detailed stump. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 3" long in-the-firing dent to base. Some staining to surface. A few small spout chips. A small in-the-firing ping to left side of jug near base. A 1 5/8" salt drip to reverse.
