One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Stenciled WILLIAMS & REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. PA," circa 1885, ovoid pitcher with tall, flaring collar, featuring Williams & Reppert maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled foliate design. Freehand stripe decoration above and below. Collar decorated with cobalt dashes between two freehand stripes. Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. A sealed Y-shaped crack on underside, the tail end of which extends 3 3/8" up front of pitcher. A small surface flake to front below collar and a tiny surface flake below the "&" in the stenciling. An area of varnish to front above stenciling.
