One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, attributed to Abial Price, Matawan, NJ, circa 1830, bowl-shaped, ovoid jar with applied lug handles, decorated on one side with a brushed "1" flanked and underscored by drape-like decoration, and on the reverse with three flowers emanating from a central stem. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with an in-the-firing discolored spot to one side and the number "148" in white paint below one handle.
