Exceptional Large-Sized Stoneware Sherd with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA, circa 1865, section of a large stoneware vessel, decorated with an impressive brushed design of a bird-on-stump with branch in its beak, bearing a well-detailed leaf and a looping vine. Two tight surface lines to front. L 9 1/2" ; H 9 5/8".
