Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRISBURG PA.," attributed to John Young, Harrisburg, PA, circa 1856-1858, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with cobalt-accented interiors to the blossoms. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Desirable maker and size, exhibiting strong color. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
