Two Stoneware Stump-Form Vessels, MA origin, fourth quarter 19th century, both decorated with brown slip under a clear salt glaze; the smaller example a planter with original drain hole, unsigned; the other example of unknown purpose, with flange to hold a lid, stamped "ABRAM FRENCH & CO. / BOSTON / MASS" on underside. Planter with chips and two long, thin cracks from rim. Marked vessel with two long cracks from rim and a small chip to interior of rim. H (of planter) 6 1/8".
