Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "J. REMMEY / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK.," John Remmey III, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base, tooled spout, and heavily-ribbed handle, featuring brushed cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and heavy highlights to the handle terminals. Exceptional size. The smallest John Remmey III that we have ever offered. Provenance: From a forty-year private collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a few typical, minor in-the-firing flaws, including a small surface chip to side of jug and a small ping to foot. H 9 1/4".
