Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, circa 1830, cylindrical crock with squared rim, applied lug handles, and heavy incised banding to shoulder, decorated on the front and reverse with an unusual brushed design of a four-petaled flower flanked by leafy stems bearing bunches of grapes. Leafy brushwork below handles. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 5" diagonal crack from rim. A small rim chip on opposite side. Diam. 9 1/2" ; H 5 1/2".
