Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, circa 1835, cylindrical form with squared rim, large lug handles, and heavy incised banding to shoulder, decorated on the front and reverse with a leafy stem bearing hanging, fan-shaped flowers. Curved leafy stem motifs under each handle and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Small chips throughout rim. A thin, approximately 5" crack from rim on one side. A thin, approximately 4" diagonal crack from rim on same side. A 5/8" surface flake near base on same side, outlined in cobalt. An iron ping to interior of rim and a stone ping to one handle. H 5 1/2" ; Diam. (across top) 9 3/4".
