Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with large blossom, stamens, and alternating hollow and solid-cobalt petals. Slip-trailed "3." to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Some light water glass staining to surface. Significant blurriness to cobalt "3." at shoulder. A diagonal 5" inverted Y-shaped surface line on reverse, not visible on interior.
