One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / ROCHESTER," NY State origin, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large foliate motif flanking a freehand "1". Includes fitting Albany-slip-glazed lid. Jar with a sealed crack on underside, extending several inches up front of jar. Additionally, wear to inner rim of jar. Lid in excellent condition with minor nicks.
