Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1830, ovoid form with footed base and tooled collar, decorated around the body with a series of brushed drapes above a horizontal stem bearing upswept swags and open-centered clover blossoms. Collar decorated with brushed swags interspersed with circular floral motifs. Skillful, thin-walled potting, excellent decoration, and strong color. Very nice condition with a 1" base chip, a 5/8" rim chip to rim on reverse, a minor chip to interior of spout, and an in-the-firing horizontal separation to underside of handle, which does not extend entirely through handle.
