Unusual Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a large brushed tulip above a wavy freehand stripe. A large broken and reglued section on reverse, with coloring along crack lines, not affecting decoration. A tightly-sealed 4" hairline from rim on front. A chip to interior of rim. H 8 1/2".
