Scarce Stoneware "Top Hat" Canning Jar with Albany Slip Glaze, Stenciled "A.P. Donaghho / Parkersburg. W. Va.," circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and flattened "wax sealer" rim, featuring diagonal A.P. Donaghho maker's stenciling in cobalt slip, with overlying Albany slip to exterior and interior. An unusual combination of Albany and cobalt slips on a desirable Donaghho form. Shallow chipping to underside along bottom edge. Hairlines to underside. Two glazed-over chips to underside of rim. Two minor nicks to underside of rim. Small chips to interior of rim. Some light surface wear to top of rim and minor wear to stenciling. H 5 5/8".
