Scarce Five-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1870, large-sized, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a parrot with spotted tail, perched on a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Unusual size of jug. Staining to surface. A glazed-over iron ping at base on reverse. A small chip to side of spout. Chips to bottom edge. Some fry to cobalt.
