One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, semi-ovoid jug with slightly-flared spout, decorated at the shoulder with three spotted tulip motifs applied over whitish slip. Handle decorated with a foliate motif and base of handle flanked by swags. Impressed at shoulder with John Bell maker's mark above a one-and-a-half-gallon capacity mark. A Y-shaped crack on underside, part of which continues 3" up base of jug. In-the-firing flaws to surface.
