Ten-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "R.T. WILLIAMS / NEW GENEVA, PA.," circa 1880, large-sized, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand stripes and small flourishes to the shoulder area, R.T. Williams maker's stenciling and stenciled floral motifs to the midsection, and a freehand "10" flanked by diagonal dashes and underscored by a stripe at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A restored 7 1/2" crack from rim on front. A restored 10" crack descending from shoulder on reverse. Two chips to left handle, one of which is glazed over. A chip to right handle. H 17".
