Fine Tanware Pitcher, New Geneva or Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1885, ovoid pitcher with finely-potted collar featuring a flared opening and rounded molding at its base, the body of the pitcher decorated in Albany slip with a large sweeping fuchsia vine design flanked by stylized floral devices on the reverse. Collar decorated with a draped brushwork above a freehand stripe and a row of dashes. Albany slip dashes to handle and highlights to handle terminals. Base with large freehand stripe. Appealing form, striking decoration, and fine condition. Excellent condition with a minor nick to left of spout and a miniscule rim nick on reverse. H 8".
