Rare Tanware Pitcher, Dated 1888, Greensboro or New Geneva, PA origin, 1888, small-sized pitcher with stylishly-potted form including ovoid body, squared collar molding and flared rim, profusely-decorated in Albany slip with a sweeping fuchsia vine design around the body. Inscribed above with the date, "1888," flanked by flourishes. Drape-and-spot motif to rim and stripe decoration to base. Stripe decoration to handle and Albany slip highlight to base of handle. Dated examples of Western Pennsylvania tanware are considered rare. Section of spout and rim area worn down. An in-the-firing ping to front. H 5 3/8".
