One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, wood-and-wire bail handle, and applied handle at base on reverse; decorated with two tulips flanking the spout, a foliate motif below the spout, and a wreath on reverse. Cobalt highlights to base of spout, applied clay ears, handle terminals on reverse, and maker's mark. Includes tin lid and spout cover. Some restoration to spout. Small areas of light fry to cobalt.
