Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, ovoid pitcher with tooled body and ribbed strap handle, decorated around its circumference with a horizontal tulip-and-swag motif. Additional swag decoration flanking the spout and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from a long-term New England collection. Professional restoration to spout. Professional restoration to an inverted Y-shaped crack on reverse, extending approximately 7 1/4" vertically up reverse side of pitcher. Two fairly innocuous in-the-firing contact marks to front of pitcher. H 13".
