Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Batimore, MD origin, circa 1850, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooling to shoulder and collar, decorated on the front with a two-stemmed clover plant design and along the collar with Parr-style tulips flanking a series of dashes at the spout. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. This pitcher combines two classic Baltimore motifs, the tulip and the clover, rarely found decorating the same piece. Excellent condition with only minor flaws. A faint, 2" in-the-firing line where spout meets rim, visible on exterior. Two 3/4" lines extend off from this line on interior of spout. A 1" in-the-firing surface line on interior of collar, not visible on exterior. An in-the-firing contact mark to side of pitcher. Very minor, in-the-firing wear to spout. A few base chips.
