Ten-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "WILLIAMS / & / REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," circa 1885, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and lug handles, the midsection featuring Williams & Reppert maker's stenciling accented with stenciled vining and two freehand flourishes. Shoulder and base decorated with straight and wavy freehand stripes. Base further decorated with a freehand "10" flanked by flourishes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable size and good color. Excellent condition with a thin crack to one handle terminal. Rim of jar is somewhat out-of-round. H 20 1/4".
