Twelve-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO, / PA.," circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, profusely-decorated with freehand stripes and vining at the shoulder, Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling surrounded by stenciled flourishes and a diamond border, along with a stenciled "12" flanked by flourishes and underscored by a stripe at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with some light surface wear to reverse. H 21 3/8".
