Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Western PA origin, circa 1860, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and incised banding to midsection, decorated with a large freehand "2" flanked by vertical wavy stripes. Shoulder decorated above with two wavy stripes. A 1 1/2" flake to interior of rim on reverse. An in-the-firing recessed spot to shoulder on left side of jar. An adhered piece of clay to top of rim.
