Rare Two-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "J. MILLER / WHEELING, VA," circa 1825-1835, ovoid jug with ribbed handle and heavy tooling to shoulder and spout, impressed at shoulder with J. Miller maker's mark below a two-gallon capacity mark. This difficult-to-find stamp was used roughly twenty-five to thirty-five years before the inception of the state of West Virginia, when Wheeling was still part of Virginia. Base chips and a very tight line to shoulder.
