Very Rare Large-Sized Stoneware Bank with Profuse Cobalt Stenciled Star Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1880, beehive form with raised, flattened finial featuring a carved coin slot, the surface heavily-decorated with nineteen stenciled stars. A fine example of Western PA stoneware, combining a very rare form with a highly-prized regional decorative motif. Provenance: A recently-discovered example, consigned from TN. Excellent condition with some shallow chipping to interior of coin slot. H 6 5/8".
