Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Sunburst Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of X-shaped rays surrounding an X and four spots. Slip-trailed "1" above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Scarce size. Very nice condition, the right handle with a small chip and tiny nick, the top of the rim with some shallow, in-the-firing chipping.
