Eight-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. BURGER, / ROCHESTER, N.Y.", circa 1885, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a sunflower or daisy with scalloped details to interior, protruding stamen, and stripes to petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "8" above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some areas of fry to cobalt. H 22 5/8".
