Three Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, American, second half 19th century, a one-gallon jug with cobalt tulip motif, stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA"; a one-gallon jug with cobalt-highlighted advertising, "GILBERT BROS & CO / WHOLESALE DRUGGISTS / NO. 9 N. HOWARD-ST / BALTIMORE MD", Baltimore, MD origin; and a one-and-a-half-gallon cake crock with cobalt floral decoration on front and reverse and cobalt-highlighted handle terminals, Baltimore, MD origin. Cowden & Wilcox jug with large, in-the-firing loss to top of spout, a shallow in-the-firing base flake, staining, and some spots of fry to cobalt. Gilbert Bros & Company jug with two spout chips, a line to spout, and a horizontal, in-the-firing surface line to base. Cake crock with some rim chips and a glob of dark, in-the-firing residue to underside.
