Stoneware Ewer with Impressed Horse Motif, Westerwald, Germany origin, late 18th century, ovoid jug with tall neck and pinched pouring spout, decorated around the body with three impressed and cobalt-highlighted rearing horse motifs, each surrounded by scalloped cobalt decoration. Impressed above with a series of overlapping, cobalt-highlighted circles. Two additional crossed circle designs appear below the horses. Brushed cobalt banding to neck. Desirable subject matter. Excellent condition with two faint horizontal lines at base, probably in-the-firing. H 11".
