Scarce Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JOHN P. EBERHARDT / & CO. / NEW GENEVA. / FAYETTE CO. / PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand stripes, a stenciled motif at center, and a stenciled "4" with flourishes at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 3/8" chip to left handle and a 1 3/8" partially glazed-over loss to left handle. Spots of staining to surface.
