Slip-Decorated Redware Plate, Inscribed "St francis xavier", Norwalk, CT origin, circa 1845, with coggled edge, the interior decorated with the large yellow-slip inscription, "St francis xavier", underscored by a wavy stripe and spot. Rim chips. A 6" crack from edge. Glazed interior, including slip, survives in excellent condition. Diameter 11".
