Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. / ROCHESTER. N.Y.", circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring three heavily-striped petals, a "bull's eye" center, and long stamens. Slip-trailed "3." to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 5/8" partially-filled chip to side of spout. A 3" inverted Y-shaped line to shoulder area. A long, faint spider line to underside with a short line extending off from it 1 1/2" up reverse side of jug. A very fine granular texture to some of the salt glazing.
